Tyddyn y Gwin is a song which has been born out of the passion of a group of people from all over Wales. People who are determined to save their communities, language and culture from the devastating effects of the current Housing emergency. Mae Tyddyn y Gwin yn gân sydd wedi’i geni allan o angerdd grŵp o bobl o bob cornel o Gymru. Pobl sy’n benderfynol o achub eu cymunedau, eu hiaith a’u diwylliant rhag effeithiau dinistriol yr Argyfwng Tai presennol.
It’s been very hard as a musician over the last couple of years not being able to gig much but with the extra time on my hands I have been drawn into campaigning for a cause which is very close to my heart (especially coming from Aberdyfi where up to 60% of houses are holiday homes or lets). That cause being the current Housing Emergency and the effects its having on both rural and urban parts of Wales.
Out of the campaigning, in the true spirit of folk music a protest song has evolved. We are now using the song to draw attention to the work we are doing and the positive steps we are taking in order to help improve the situation.
The video for Tyddyn y Gwin will have its television premier on the Welsh magazine programme Heno tonight (Monday 22nd of November) at 7pm. I had lots of fun filming with Gerallt Pennant and the Heno crew this morning.
Mae wedi bod yn anodd iawn fel cerddor dros yr ychydig flynyddoedd diwethaf heb gael y cyfle i gigio llawer, ond gyda’r amser ychwanegol ar fy nwylo rwyf wedi cael fy nhynnu i mewn i ymgyrchu dros achos sy’n agos iawn at fy nghalon (yn enwedig dod o Aberdyfi lle mae hyd at 60% o dai yn gartrefi gwyliau neu’n gosodiadau gwyliau) Yr achos hwnnw yw’r Argyfwng Tai presennol a’r effeithiau mae’n cael ar ardaloedd gwledig a threfol Gymru.
O’r ymgyrchu, yng ngwir ysbryd cerddoriaeth werin mae cân brotest wedi esblygu. Rydym bellach yn defnyddio’r gân i dynnu sylw at y gwaith rydym yn ei wneud a’r camau cadarnhaol rydym yn eu cymryd er mwyn helpu i wella’r sefyllfa.
Bydd y fideo ar gyfer Tyddyn y Gwin yn cael ei tremier teledu ar raglen gylchgrawn Cymraeg Heno (dydd Llun 22ain o Dachwedd) am 7pm. Cefais lawer o hwyl yn ffilmio gyda Gerallt Pennant a chriw bore ‘ma.

Our group, The Housing Justice Charter is now working with the Welsh Government, The wellbeing of future generations act and other organisations such as Cymdeithas yr Iaith, Undod and many more to try and protect out communities, culture and language.
Its been an incredible journey so far. From feeling heartbroken and helpless during the first lockdown to meeting a truly inspirational group of people I am now honoured to call my friends, to working with the Senedd, media and other campaign groups and slowly watching this become a main stream issue.
We have a week to go before our Senedd Petition comes to an end. Please sign and Share it with as many people as possible and lets show the Welsh government just how concerned the people of Wales are about the future of our communities.

There is so much work to be done in order to protect the things that we hold dear in the future but it seems that the tide is beginning to turn. Hopefully the Labour and Plaid Cymru deal announced today will be the beginning of the changes we so desperately need.
Mae ein grŵp, y Siarter Cyfiawnder Cartrefi bellach yn gweithio gyda Llywodraeth Cymru, Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol a sefydliadau eraill fel Cymdeithas yr Iaith, Undod a llawer mwy i geisio diogelu cymunedau, diwylliant ac iaith.
Mae o wedi bod yn daith ddiddorol hyd yn hyn. O deimlo’n dorcalonnus ac yn ddiymadferth yn ystod y cyfnod clo cyntaf i gwrdd â grŵp gwirioneddol ysbrydoledig o bobl, mae’n anrhydedd bellach i mi alw fy ffrindiau, i weithio gyda’r Senedd, y cyfryngau a grwpiau ymgyrchu eraill ac yn araf wrth wylio hyn yn dod yn fater cydnabyddedig.
Mae gennym wythnos i fynd cyn i’n Deiseb Senedd ddod i ben. Llofnodwch a Rhannwch ef gyda chymaint o bobl â phosibl a gadewch i ni ddangos i lywodraeth Cymru pa mor bryderus yw pobl Cymru am ddyfodol ein cymunedau.

Mae cymaint o waith i’w wneud er mwyn diogelu’r pethau sydd yn annwyl i ni ond mae’n ymddangos bod y llanw’n dechrau troi. Gobeithio y bydd y cytundeb Llafur a Phlaid Cymru a gyhoeddwyd heddiw yn ddechrau ar y newidiadau rydym yn wir angen.
